Neuralinking is the primary mode of communication and networking in the 26th century. Because of its prevalence, efficiency, and usage, it is equivalent to modern Internet technology, and is used by its contemporaries in much the same way.

The process of neuralinking, much like starcraft travel, is founded upon the exploitation of tachyonic connection. At these speeds, information can be transmitted and received at astoundingly high quantities, using neural energy from the humans involved in a connection as a circuit. This is accomplished by linking one's mind into the global system, a process which requires a terminal with a connection to this system. Many homes, offices, and otherwise have their own neuralink terminals installed, allowing for instantaneous entry into the network once the terminal is active.

All aspects of communication, as the name implies, are neurally triggered. The user of a neuralink, once connected, must remain in a position of rest with his eyes closed, so that images in reality do not conflict with the transmitted images over the neural connection. Using this system, the user is immersed in a virtual reality session, controlling his avatar with mental directions. Issuing commands to the terminal system works the same way. In this session, the user now has access to his files and documents stored in the terminal or on an external server, or he can connect to virtual spaces to interact with other users. In this way, Inquirers of the Elysian Institute of Advanced Inquiry, for example, may attend class sessions while not residing on the same planet.
